Basic First Aid Course 16h
This First Aid Course covers the fundamentals of first aid and does not require any prior knowledge. It is designed as an introductory course.
You will learn essential first aid skills for emergencies, injuries and sudden illness. After completing the course, you will know how to act in life-threatening situations and provide first aid in accidents, medical emergencies and incidents such as cardiac arrest, choking and severe bleeding. You will also learn how to use an AED.
The course also includes emergency first aid requirements for electrical work.

What will you learn in the Basic First Aid Course?
This first aid course teaches you how to give emergency first aid in life-threatening situations, everyday accidents and sudden illness. It is one of the most comprehensive first aid training courses available and is developed by healthcare professionals with real-world experience.
The course is available in English as an online first aid course. Classroom and webinar training can be arranged for groups.
First aid skills are not just a civic duty. They give you the confidence to act when it matters. You will learn how to assess risks, prevent further harm and act in situations where every second counts.
During the course, you will learn how to place a person in the recovery position, clear an airway obstruction and control bleeding.
This course is designed as an introduction to first aid training. It is suitable for beginners and does not require any previous knowledge. Upon completion, you will receive a first aid certificate.
The training meets workplace requirements and follows the SFS 6002 -standard and Tukes guidelines for emergency first aid in electrical work.

Yes, you can renew a valid Basic First Aid Course 16h qualification once by completing either a four- or eight-hour Emergency First Aid Course.
Please note that an expired qualification cannot be renewed. If your qualification has expired, you will need to complete the Basic First Aid Course 16h again.
Yes, it is possible to receive reimbursement from Kela. The maximum reimbursement is up to 60% of the training costs.
To qualify for reimbursement, the following requirements must be met:
Employer requirements
- The employer must provide statutory occupational health services
- The occupational health plan must include first aid training for employees
- For online courses, the plan must specifically mention online training
- The reimbursement must be applied for within six months of the end of the financial year
- Self-employed individuals must apply within six months of paying the invoice
Course and trainer requirements
- First aid instructors must be healthcare professionals with additional training in first aid instruction

What is the most comprehensive first aid course?
The Basic First Aid Course 16h is one of the most comprehensive first aid courses available. The course takes approximately 16 hours to complete, equivalent to two training days.
The course covers three main areas:
- Lifesaving emergency first aid
- First aid for accidents and injury prevention
- Sudden illness and medical emergencies
The course also includes emergency first aid requirements for electrical work.
During the training, you will learn how to help an unconscious person, recognise common medical emergencies such as seizures, and provide first aid for conditions like hypothermia.
