What you will learn and how the course works
By the end of the course, you will be able to recognize the most common medical emergencies and provide appropriate first aid. You will know how to act until professional help arrives.
No prior experience is required. The course is suitable for both first-time participants and those looking to refresh their skills.
The training includes practical exercises, videos, and tests to help you apply what you learn in real situations. You will also receive practical guidance on building a first aid kit for home, the workplace, or the cottage.
Please note that Finnish Red Cross (FRC) certifications can only be renewed through official Red Cross courses.
Updating your first aid card
First aid skills should be refreshed at least every three years. To renew your emergency first aid certification, you need to retake the course.
If you currently hold a Basic First Aid 16-hour qualification, you can update it once by attending either a 4- or 8-hour Emergency First Aid course. If your qualification has expired, or if you have already renewed it with a short course, you will need to retake the full Basic First Aid 16-hour course.
Please note that Red Cross course qualifications can only be refreshed on Red Cross courses (FRC).

The content of the Emergency First Aid course is broad and practical. During the course you will learn, for example:

The recommended period of validity of an emergency first aid course is three (3) years. First aid skills should be updated regularly. An emergency first aid course can be renewed by re-taking the course either online or remotely via webinar.
